ADVOCACY TRAINING

1 Session, 7 hours

Advocates are individuals who provide support, pastoral care and assistance for victims of clergy abuse. Advocates can be clergy persons or lay persons, women or men. An advocate’s primary responsibility is to provide support and assistance to victims. It is not their job to speak for the victim, but rather to provide support as victims make choices about what is best for them. Advocates help interpret the process for adjudication and keep the victim informed about what is happening.
