Thank you for visiting the web site of Associates in Education and Prevention in Pastoral Practice. AEPPP began in 1991 as a joint project of Sister Elaine V. Shaw, OP and me. We started with a small grant from Elaine’s community and a phone line, desk and filing cabinet in my basement. With a commitment to justice making and education AEPPP began offering programs and services to churches, survivors and clergy.

Ten years later AEPPP has grown into a nationally respected resource for churches, leaders and survivors dealing with the aftermath of professional misconduct. AEPPP is a non-profit 501 C 3 organization governed by a dedicated Board of Directors who represent diverse traditions and experiences while maintaining a singular vision of providing the best programs and services in the field.

AEPPP is proud to be a national provider of the "Is Nothing Sacred?" Retreat for survivors of clergy sexual abuse. It is one of the only resources for survivors available in this country. In the coming years, we hope to take the INS retreat to Australia, England and Africa in response to requests from survivors all over the world.

I look forward to the day when:

The services of this agency are no longer necessary.
Standards for professional behavior are universally accepted and upheld
Survivors have the healing resources they need
Churches stop blaming victims for the behavior of their leaders
Accountability for clergy is the rule rather than the exception
Clergy have the resources and training they need to remain healthy in ministry
Abuse by clergy and other ministers stops

Until that time AEPPP will be a resource to churches, leaders and victim/survivors, making a positive difference for all affected by the crisis of professional abuse and misconduct.

I hope you will support our work by scheduling a workshop or retreat or by making a tax-deductible contribution. Thank you in advance for your interest in and support of the work of AEPPP, Inc.
